Fixed Bridges in Racine

Do you feel too self-conscious to smile due to a gap in your mouth because a tooth is missing? What if you could get it fixed?

Well, you can! At Belle City Family Dentistry serving the Racine & Mount Pleasant areas, we provide fixed dental bridges. During your appointment, Dr. Olesen will exam the gap and recommend an effective treatment option to restore your smile.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is comprised of two crowns on either side of the missing tooth connected to an artificial tooth, called a pontic, in the middle. These three “teeth” make up the “bridge” that is matched to the color of your teeth. It’s then bonded into place to provide a permanent solution to your missing tooth dilemma.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

First, Dr. Olesen will examine your mouth and the areas surrounding the missing tooth to determine whether a dental bridge is appropriate for your situation.

If she believes that you are a good candidate for a bridge, the teeth that are on either side of the missing tooth will be prepared for crowns.

Dr. Olesen will take an impression so that the bridge will fit precisely into the space and blend perfectly with your existing teeth. The first appointment will conclude with the insertion of a temporary bridge to protect the area until the permanent bridge is ready.

At your next and last visit, Dr. Olesen will bond the permanent bridge into place, checking the fit and your bite.

If you practice good oral hygiene and maintain your proper dental cleaning and examination schedule, your new bridge should last for a long time. Not only will you enjoy a beautiful, natural-looking smile, but your confidence will get a boost too.
